Leadership and Executive Coaching for Individuals and Groups
Why I Do This Work
Carson Greil Group launched in 2002 out of my passion to help leaders grow, both individually and within their careers. I know firsthand how powerful it is to learn your authentic leadership style, then develop tools to become a more effective leader.
I bring my whole self to this deep, transformative work.
With more than 20 years of senior management experience in the steel manufacturing, health care and forest products industries, my career has also included working in startup and midcap businesses and a Fortune 50 company, International Paper.
Throughout my business career, I launched many large-scale initiatives, including becoming the Sector Systems Manager of a $7 billion sector at International Paper in the 1990s. My corporate work also included developing and directing a pioneering leadership development and organizational business change initiative that eventually reached more than 6,000 employees in three years.
My clients are high-achieving, senior executive professionals who come from many business sectors, including healthcare, information technology, manufacturing, financial services, agri-business, consumer products and automotive. My work has also included clients in higher education and from the federal government, as well as from non-profits and faith-based groups.
My two masters degrees are in Curriculum and Instruction as well as in Telecommunications and Information Systems Management. My doctorate is in Management Information Systems.
Certifications
To stay in tune with the needs and aspirations of a diverse set of clients, I am dedicated to continuing to learn and grow. Below are my most important certifications in various fields related to coaching and organizational and leadership development.
Professional Certified Coach (PCC) from the International Coaching Federation, the largest worldwide resource for professional coaches.
Certified Positive Intelligence® Coach (CPQC) from the Positive Intelligence® organization, which uses deep research and proven techniques to build one’s mental muscles using powerful habits for a positive mindset.
Hudson Certified Coach from the Hudson Institute of Coaching, one of the early leaders in the field of coaching. This organization has provided developmentally based coach training for more than 30 years, setting the standard for experiential learning programs.
Strozzi Institute Certified Coach from the Strozzi Institute, which pioneered somatic techniques for group and individual leadership development. As a somatic coach, I help my clients clarify the relationship between their values and their whole self — physical, emotional, mental — enabling them to be more effective leaders.
AIM Enneagram Assessment Certified by Aephoria Partners, a South Africa-based organization. This assessment pairs Enneagram work to understand personality and underlying motivations with a tool that identifies maturity. This assessment can be used for personal, team and organizational development.
What My Clients Say
“As I was choosing a coach, at first I wanted someone with similar experience to mine, but as I talked to Mary Jo, I changed my mind, especially as she told me she could help me understand what’s driving some of my decisions and habits. She also has the experience, with her corporate and education background, but she was able to give me another layer I would not have thought of. Mary Jo will help you identify areas of opportunity within yourself that you did not know were there. Essentially, she can help you become a better you. She helped me double down on my strengths and chip away at what I needed to improve.”
Mark Scafati, VP of Sales and Marketing for North America
LKQ Corp.
“Mary Jo was able to understand my strengths and put those to work for me. But she also understood what I needed to work on to improve my communication skills, executive presence and to enhance my own leadership style. She has been an objective sounding board for developing approaches, ideas and strategies. Mary Jo understands business strategies and knows how to execute on ideas that are relevant in the current business environment. I now have a productive team and am successfully facilitating strategy sessions with my peers and stakeholders.”
Jan Wagner, Former Director, Planning and Sales
A Major Financial Services Company
“I was interested in a female coach, and I knew Mary Jo had been in a corporate job for years and was a senior leader, so she knew what it was like to navigate as a female leader. I do a lot of self-reflecting all the time, but Mary Jo gave me the tactics and tools I needed to become my best person. I would recommend Mary Jo without a doubt to anyone. She’s so authentic and she genuinely cares.”
Karen Rhodes, Vice President
US Sales Operations Cranial & Spinal Technologies, Medtronic
“When you practice the methods Mary Jo teaches in her somatics class, you will learn what it takes to overcome the negative self-talk streaming through your mind, and to be present and strong in your relationships with others as you pursue your goals.”
